Message from the Superintendent: New Leadership for CHS

April 22, 2019 Dear Coppell High School Students and Families, I want to make you aware of leadership changes for Coppell High School. Coach Kit Pehl recently was named Coppell ISD’s Athletic Director. Coach Pehl has been a valued and respected member of the CISD staff for many years and was the perfect fit to be our new Athletic Director. This promotion vacated his prior position of Assistant Athletic Director. Moving into that position will be Dr. Nicole Jund. Dr. Jund has been a member of the CISD staff for the past two years serving as the principal of CHS. Her extensive background in athletics, her campus administrative experience at both middle school and high school, as well as her knowledge and understanding of UIL policies and procedures will serve her well in this new role. Dr. Jund is a former state champion head coach in soccer and girls wrestling, and her school athletic leadership accolades include recognitions by several state and local organizations, including serving as a speaker for Texas High School Coaches Association and the Texas High School Girls Coaches Association, and being named Coach of the Year by the Dallas Morning News. I believe Coach Pehl and Dr. Jund will make a strong team, who will work closely together to support all student athletes and coaches in our athletic program. With this change in leadership, Coppell Middle School East Principal Laura Springer will be returning to Coppell High School as the new principal. Her extensive experience at CHS as a former teacher, head coach and administrator, as well as her positive reputation within the Coppell ISD community, will assist her as she transitions to this new role. Her ability to create and foster a positive culture and learning environment is the cornerstone of her leadership style. Ms. Springer will do incredible things at CHS as the new principal. Steve Glover, Assistant Principal at CMS East, will take over as the principal of CMS East. Dr. Jund and Ms. Springer will be working closely together to ensure a smooth transition, and they will still complete the end-of-the-year graduation and other ceremonies at their respective schools. Change provides us with new opportunities to learn, grow and thrive. Let us all remember and know that together, we are ONE Coppell ISD dedicated to a common mission and committed to providing a wonderful educational experience for each child. Thank you for your support of our district. Sincerely, Brad Hunt Superintendent
